We are looking for information. My grandfather came from Transyvania prior to WW1.He came from a village,Vard or Svard. He came over on an Hungarian visa from Hamberg,Germany. He spelled his surname Sockaci. He said the Romanian spelling was different and the correct pronunciation was "Sokotch".He was the only member of his family to come over and he lost contact around WW2.Any clues, hints as to what his name really was and whether such a place now exists would be welcome. Also, his first name was John in English. He said his middle name was "Din" or "Dinn".Thank you.
