People from Calafat

Hello
I'm trying to trace or gather some information about the history of the town of Calafat.
I've been led to believe my ancestors went there and named the town after the family name.
The furthest I can trace it so far is to the Crimea, then on to Trabzon in Turkey. There are variations I know of such as Kalafat, Kalafatoglu, Ozkalafat.
If you can help I'd be grateful.
Thanks in advance
