I have not been able to locate any census or birth records for(mygreat4xgrandparents) Jacques Romain and Marie Sabourin. In 1836 their marriage was recorded by a travelling priest who registered it in Ottawa. They lived on Allumettes Isle in 1836.I know their children are the following: Mathilde, Jacob and Catherine/Caroline.They were born between 1830-1836. Jacques and Jacob his son contributed to the early settlement of Fort Coulonge.
I think Jacques may be a brother to Augustin, however I cannot find any recorded proof linking them to same parents(Andre Romain and Marie Picard.
Augustin Romain and Jules Romain were mentioned 1830's in a priest recordings in the area. Is it possible that Jules may be Jacques. The priet mentions they came to the area before the canadians and mentions them(John Romain) in a cemetary for the "savages". If anyone can shed some light on what Romain line Jacques descends from or Marie Sabourin I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You, Lianne
