Thanks. I will look into apprenticeship records. Can you think of a logical reason why my ancestor would end up in Belfast------that is documented----- if his parents were English and his wife was from Dublin? I may have been barking up the wrong tree. I was led to believe that many from Northern Ireland considered themselves English.
