I am Jim Hawk, ggggson of John Hawk of Sullivan co. tn.My studies over the past few years reveals that:
(1) there were two JOhn Hawk's in this county living in same time period___the one who fought under Charles VINCENT, and who named his two sons Abraham and Vincent. Abraham named one of his sons Vincent, My grandfather (2) This John Hawk( b 1775) married the very young Susan Rollar (b1790)__ and she is listed in census info as being mother of the sonsof Abraham and brother Vincent9 John had apparantly died before this census date. (3) This JOhn Hawk and Martin Rollar are listed in Vincent's 1788 Militia
(4) The other John Hawk married one of the Roller girlsearlier than the 1790 birth of young Susan. All the Roller girl's marriages may be accounted for but one__the one baptized at Strasburg__Catherina(5)The "second" John Hawk married this Catherine, and their land dealings are cited as occuring when Susan was a child (6) Catherine apparently developed a special closeness with father Martin over the years___ and the child born not long after Martin's death was called "Martin Hawk"___ progenitor of large famly of Hawk's in area. Two of Martin's son's were in civil war, and in their interviews in early 1900 made reference to their grandfather marrying "one of the Roller girls".My hand is broken___cannot write more. There remain some interesting misteries about the twh John's.
