Dear Ermin,
If you have not received an answer to your question I believe I can help you.The Roig name is originally from Catalonia an autonomous region in Northeastern Spain. Many Catalans do not consider themselves to be Spanish and speak Catalan which is a romance language similar to French. The city of Barcelona is located in Catalonia.
My father - Wallace Roig - who is from Puerto Rico provided me with this information. His paternal forebears are originally from Reus in Catalonia.
Regards,
Luis F. Roig
