This paper, originally described in a post to this forum back in 2001, is available online at http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/md/washington/rohrerland2.htm Also, we no longer believe the widespread legend that Samuel Rohrer and his brother Martin were descended from Hans Michael Rohrer, as stated in our original 2001 post. Rather, research by Richard W. Davis (www.mennosearch.com)indicates they are most likely the sons of Frederick Rohrer (c1696-c1762) who emigrated with his family on the ship "Restauration" in 1747. Frederick and Samuel appear in adjacent entries on the ship list, Samuel, age 19, having been the oldest son and considered an adult. Frederick's younger brother Jacob (1703-1758) had emigrated on the ship "Britannia" in 1731 and was the first Rohrer settler in Washington County. Not long after Frederick arrived, he purchased land from his brother, and all of their children eventually inherited and/or bought land nearby. Michael Rohrer Notify Administrator about this message?
