Fay,
Sorry, I hadn't checked this page of the ROGERS site in sometime but here is what I know from verified records of the York Co. SC ROGERS who are sometimes incorrectly linked to the Mecklenburg Co. NC ROGERS and others. This is what I found to be true from VERIFIED SOUTH CAROLINE DOCUMENTS of these ROGERS in YORK CO. SC :
MATTHEW ROGERS b. abt. 1725 in Windsor, Middlesex Co. New Jersey who died in 1804 York Co. SC and had wife MARGERY BROWN.Margery Brown b. abt. 1730.Their children were :
1.WILIAM ROGERS b. bef. 1749; d. March 15, 1784 Camden Dist. SOUTH CAROLINA.
2.CLAYTON ROGERS b. Dec. 20, 1749 Windsor, Middlesex Co., New Jersey; d. Feb. 01, 1837 Jackson Co., TN. Had wife Betridge Sadler per some who is dau. of ISAAC SADLER and Bertridge Sadler b. 1757 in Turkey Cr., Chester Co. , SC.
3.JOHN ROGERS b. bet. 1749 - 1755 New Jersey;d. 1781 Camden Dist. SC; md. ELIZABETH UNKNOWN.
4.EDITH ROGERS b. abt. 1756 New Jersey; md. FRAME WOODS bef. 1774.
5.RALPH ROGERS b March 08, 1760 New Jersey; d. Apr. 20, 1836 Jackson Co., TN.
6.MARGARET ROGERS b. bet. 1763 - 1765.
7.RACHEL ROGERS b. abt. 1765.
8.MATTHEW L. ROGERS b. Nov. 16, 1767, New Jersey.d. 1853 Jackson Co. TN ; md. Eleanor Randolph.
( their spouses are taken from others files quoting the JACKSON CO. TN FAMILY HISTORY BOOK on these ROGERS and allied groups; but the info on these NEW JERSEY ROGERS found in SOUTH CAROLINA COURT RECRORDS are clear they are of NEW JERSEY to SOUTH CAROLINA ) .
Clayton Rogers had been in Chester Co. SC and then to Jackson Co. TN by about 1808.ClAYTON ROGERS is also listed in an audit file during the Amercian Rev. in SC around 1776.
1784 SC fils shows WILLIAM ROGERS of Camden Dist., Kershaw Will Camden Dist. Estate Records Book A1, p. 199 estate Packet:Apt. 60, Pkg. 2111.
The SC files are very explicit that this is a family in all those regions mentioned and that they don't seem to be on other files with other York Co. SC ROGERS who are in my allied lines of McINNISH/ WEATHERS/ JULIANS also of York Co. SC and were MICHAEL ROGERS and his brother JONAS ROGERS.My FFDNA tests shows that I have many FFDNA MATCHES out of the JULIAN/ WEATHERS/ McINNISH lines who are indeed my distant and remote cousinships in my JULIAN direct line. Also we learned that JONAS ROGERS of York Co. SC who md. MARY POLLY JULIAN ( dau. of JACOB JULIAN & his 1st wife ) are later marrying in Mecklenburg and were mentioned in her father's JACOB JULIAN's will in York Co. SC.Later still JONAS ROGERS & wife MARY JULIAN moved from York Co. SC to Rutherford Co. NC and are on files there until they are then found in Monroe Co. TN with my JULIANS/ MURRAYS/ and RICHESIN direct lines. We have verified that the JULIANS are FRENCH and they are DNA TESTED to be FRENCH/ NORWEGIANS.The McINNISH/ WEATHERS lines in this Julian family are also out of Surry/ Sussex Co's VA and are verified by Albemarle Parish files in Surry/ Sussex Co's VA.We still don't know if JONAS ROGERS and brother MICHAEL ROGERS are related to our ROGERS who are also out of Surry Co. VA to NC,( Montgomery Co. NC) but we suspect thy might be simply as all their York Co. SC neighbors werealso out of Surry/ Sussex Co. VA and are also DNA TESTED and verified on their paper trails being out of Surry/ Sussex Co. VA .
The NEW JERSEY ROGERS who are in and around York Co. SC, as well as Chester Co. SC, and Camden Dist. SC etc. are not so far known to be related to any of my ROGERS lines.
THE DNA on the MECKLENBURG CO. NC ROGERS families of GEORGE ROGERS, as well as a ROBERT ROGERS , and a WILLIAM ROGERS of Mecklenburg Co. NC are not a DNA MATCH with my own ROGERS in Montgomery Co. NC.Neither are my ROGERS in Montgomery Co.NC a DNA MATCH to the other ROGERS in Anson and Stanly Co. NC who are out of the RHODE ISLAND lines of JOB ROGERS and THOMAS ROGERS of Wake Co. NC to Anson. So our ROGERS in Montgomery Co. NC only matched those ROGERS who are out of the SURRY Co. VA ROGERS of JOHN ROGERS b. 1617 England/ Wales who arrived on ship "George" in 1635 and was a Burgess in Jamestown VA and later moved across the James River to SURRY CO. VA in 1666.
Our Y-DNA, FFDNA TESTS on these ROGERS in our ROGERS DNA group is further Haplogroup tested on a few of them and shows they are Haplogroup R1b1b2a1b5 ( haplogroups as well as DNA markers have to match to be considered a family group ) and we know then that the Anson Co. NC Rogers, the Mecklenburg Co. NC ROGERS and others who are not our Haplogroup are not our DNA matches either.
My own FFDNA test, along with the MTDNA test shows my origins as 7.7% Middle Eastern ( Palestine to Iran with some Ashkenazi Jewish markers as well ) and 92.23% WESTERN EUROPEAN from Orkney Islands of Scotland to France, Italy, and Spain.I have no NATIVE AMERICAN MARKERS or haplogroups in any of my lines. So we know the ethnicity of our ROGERS are the ANCIENT SCOTS who went to IRELAND well before they were in England and may have left from England for America. The haplogroup of R1b1b2a1b5 is going back thousands of years and before surnames were used, so we know the ancient origins of our ROGERS as well as their markers showing our DNA matches and our ROGERS DNA GROUP are NOT A DNA MATCH WITH THE MECKLENBURG Co.NC ROGERS who are DNA tested so far and those were the Mecklenburg Co. NC ROGERS out of GEORGE ROGERS, ROBERT ROGERS and WILLIAM ROGERS of Mecklenburg Co. NC so they are not related to my ROGERS in Montgomery Co. NC ( Anson in 1774 but upper end of Anson became Montgomery Co. in 1779 where my ROGERS lands lay then ).Our ROGERS Deeds are all in Montgomery Co. NC in 1779 and they were never in Mecklenburg Co. NC but others by similar names to our ROGERS were, and if they are DNA TESTED it would have to be through the lines of GEORGE, ROBERT or WILLIAM ROGERS of Mecklenburg and they are not our DNA MATCHES.
