Hi Dave,
I know it's been a long time since you posted this query, and I'm hoping you're still out there doing research.
I am exploring a connection among the CARSON, ROGERS, and ELDRIDGE/ELDREDGE families in Mercer Co., New Jersey in the 1840s. There was apparently an 1847 court case involving CARSON and ELDRIDGE over land that had once belonged to Abraham ROGERS. Daniel CARSON was occupying the premises, and Aaron ELDRIDGE believed the land belonged to him. I am in process of sorting out what happened, although another researcher told me that Daniel CARSON prevailed.
In another document, there is a reference to a Rachel ROGERS as a daughter of Abraham ROGERS, of New Windsor Twp., Middlesex Co., New Jersey. This Abraham's wife was named Abigail, and he drew up a will in 1796 naming sons Samuel and Abraham as executors; mentions son Amos, daughters Elizabeth, Anne, Abigail and Rachel. Will probated in 1816. Your Rachel, b. ca. 1799 would not have been the daughter of the elder Abraham, but may have been the daughter of one of these mentioned sons. Son Abraham however, allegedly had no children, and it is he that I believe left his property to his nephew John ELDRIDGE and niece Ann CARSON.
If you have run across additional information, I would like to learn of it.
Regards,
Dawn Bingaman
