Tom & Annie Rogers of Monroe Co. TN
Madisonville Democrat, (Monroe Co. TN) Wednesday, June 10, 1942:
"Rafter News---Uncle Nobe Peace wanted me to write something of the woman who was killed up here in time of the Civil War. She was Annie Rogers, wife Tom Rogers. She had prepared supper and started out to call some men to eat when she was shot down in front of the house, as I understand it. I have heard my mother tell of men coming to her home that night and getting two of her sisters to go to the place where the killing occurred to see who had been killed. My mother and her aunt, Margaret Belcher, went next day and dressed her for burial." ---Columbus Shaw.
