Hi,
We were in Chattanooga this past weekend and I managed to get 2 hours at the library. I found an obituary from May 1937. It was of a man named William S. Rogers. A Civil War vet, age 88.
It appears he was born in Jackson County, AL, I think, from looking at census etc. His father was J.E. Rogers, he served under his dad in the Confederacy.
William has sons Ike (Isaac?), Robert and John B. Rogers. They all live in Marion County, TN in 1937. His sisters are Mrs. T.J. Smith, and Mrs. J.B. Smith of Battle Creek (Marion County, TN?) and Mrs. Joe Hackworth of Stevenson, Jackson Co., AL.
I just realized that the Smith and Hackworth ladies are his sisters and not his daughters. Yesterday, the research I did, I realize now, was looking for them as daughters. Ha! No wonder they were so old.
My point is, maybe this son Ike was named after another Isaac Rogers, the one you are looking for.
I still have a lot of research to do on this family. By the way, a photograph was included with this article.
Have to run now, almost time to leave for work.
Thanks so much for writing,
Georgia
