GEORGE P. SEATON, one of the oldest residents in Lucas County, passed away at his home in English Township on Monday evening, February 12, 1906, at 7:30 o'clock, after an illness of three months with dropsy of the heart and pneumonia. Largely attended funeral services conducted by Rev. O.W. Brown of Oakley were held at the family residence yesterday morning at eleven o'clock after which interment took place in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
GEORGE P. SEATON was born in Port Hope, Canada, on October 7, 1829. At the age of about thirteen years he left there and came to the United States, living for some time at Sandwich, Ill. He was married there about fifty years ago to LOIS ANN PECK, who survives him. To them were born six children, all of whom are living. They are C.W. of Salt Lake City, Utah, MRS. S.W. VAN WINKLE of Liberty Township, MRS. J.L. SUMMERS of Lucerne, Mo., MRS. WM. ROGERS of Trenton, Mo., FRANK of Whitebreast Township and CARRIE who has resided with her parents.
Before his marriage MR. SEATON spent several years in California. He and his family lived at different points in Iowa, coming to Lucas County twenty-eight years ago. For twenty-five years they resided in Liberty Township and three years ago moved to the farm in English Township which place has since been their home. Deceased was honest and upright, generous and kind in disposition, and his friends were numbered by his acquaintances. His death is sincerely mourned and the heartfelt sympathy of the community is extended to the wife and mother who lost her eyesight a year ago, and to the bereaved children.
