African-American Rogers/Rodgers-Wake Co.NC, Late 1800's,Early 1900's
Looking for anyone with connections on the following family, which were found in the 1880 Neuse River, Wake Co.,NC, and St. Matthews in 1870 Census:
Nathaniel Rogers = born about 1824
married Edie Rogers, born about 1828, in 1858 in Wake Co.,according to the records of slave marriages. Nathaniel may have had another wife prior, judging by the age of some of his children.
their known children are:
Luke Rogers - b. abt 1848 (later started spelling it Rodgers)
Martha Rogers - abt. 1852
James Rogers - abt. 1856
Isaac Rogers - abt. 1858
Cherry Rogers - abt 1859
Nathaniel Rogers - abt. 1861
Louisa Rogers - abt 1862
Lulu or Lucy Rogers - abt. 1864
Josiah Rogers - abt 1869 (later called himself Joe Rodgers, my ggrandfather. Moved to Warren County, NC and raised a large family)
Annie Rogers - abt 1876 (says Ammer in 1880)
Luke seems to have married Candace and they had the following children, and lived in Raleigh, in 1880:

Isaac Rogers married Mary, and was living in Neuse River in 1880.
