ROEHL Our family pronounces it "roll". The original German had instead of "oe" an "o" with two dots over it (Umlatt). There is no english sound like it. When my wife pronounces it the sound is like saying "aw" while coughing. I have also heard "rule" and "real". So it's your choice.
