tips: it will make it easier for us to recognize him if you can provide birth date and birth place, the name of his spouse including maiden name and the names and birth dates of his children. Why exactly were you unable to get the death certificate? He was born late enough to have one. Was it refusedd or just not found? If not found, try the County Clerk where he died or if that is where you tried without success, try the state office of vital stats. If you did that and they say not found, make another request. Sometimes lazy clerks don't even look, they just return your request 'not found' because they are busy. In some cases it has taken me three tries to get a document such a death record. Also, have you checked his published obituary? Often the parents names are there. Also, Telephone the cemetery where he is buried, they may have that in their files...believe it or not! Did he serve in any branch of the military at any time? His service record might have his parent's names. Do you know where he was born? Check the first government census of that county following his birth and see if you can find him as a small child in a family. Finally, you might try your local library and ask if they can inter-library loan with larger genealogical libraries. If so, obtain all the historical books for the county he was born in and for the county he died in. I am surprised how often the person I am looking for is listed in these local histories. OOr, you might just get lucky on the Genforum...who knows! Good hunting!
