Dianne,
I would be delighted to receive any stuff you have on the Sparrow/Roe connection, via [email protected]. Susan Sparrow (d.1934) married William Jestin of Borris-in-Ossory, Queen's County; William was a brother of my great-grandmother Annie Georgina Roe nee Jestin.
Dr. Henry Roe is not an ancestor of mine.I have merely taken an interest in the Dublin George Roe & Co. Distillery family, which flourished for about 100 years up to c.1880 (when the firm was taken over). One of its
owners, also Henry Roe, paid £230,000 - the equivalent in today's money of about US$30m - to restore Christ Church Cathedral in the 1870s.There is a good chance that Dr Henry Roe was some sort of cousin of the Distillery family.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Evan.
