Your interesting letter confirms my belief
that the two (John and David) were brothers.
David came to Flushing, L.I. about 1664/65
(not 1690)It is interesting that another
man (Rev.John Youngs of Reydon, Suffolk, England) who was an aquaintance of Nathaniel Roe(Rector of the Benacre church) and were to appear together on court records in The Soutwold area of Suffolk, England as witnesses etc.John Youngs led 11 other families from the Southwold area of England
to Southold, Long Island (then part of CT)
to establish the first English settlement on
Long Island in 1640.This may account for the fact that both John and David Roe eventually settled on Long Island by 1664/5.
I am directly related to several of these
families that came to Southold, Suffolk Co.,
Long Island in 1640(who came from Southwold and Reydon, Suffolk, England.)These were the Moore, Horton, Tuthill and other families
like Cleveland and Roe that later settled
on Long Island.See:http://www.lihistory.com/spectown/histoo6w.htm
back in the County Suffolk, England.
