William S. Rodman

1850 Census of New Rochelle, NY gives William S. Rodman, farmer b. Rhode Island age 38, Mary 16, Samuel 13, Ann E. 11, William 8, Clara 5, Harriet 3, and George W. 1. Wife Harriet Caroline (Bartlett) was by then dead.

William b. 1811 does not appear among the Rhode Island Rodmans and later census enumerations of some of his children give conflicting data. Mary gives her father's birthplace as Connecticut while William consistently claims NY. Both repeatedly give their mother's place of birth as NY.

Joseph 3 of New Rochelle, (John 2,1) had a great-grandson William 1790 (RG 439) and he is given by the Rodman Genealogy as the father of a William "G" Rodman (RG 927) b. 1811, birthplace not given. William "G" Rodman is not carried out and there is no further information.

Does anyone have any information on these families?

Craig M. Hamilton
