Lee - that the Jefferson County Rodericks may have come from Hardy or Hampshire does not mean they were not related to Ludwig. The problem is that the records related to the Jefferson County Rodericks consistently state that they were born in Virginia, even those born before 1800. For example, Daniel Roderick was born ca 1791 in Virginia according to census records. The Daniel who was heir to Ludwig was in Maryland in 1803 and in the Maryland militia during the War of 1812. There is a record of marriage of Daniel Roderick to Mary Ann Sullivan, 24 Jul 1809 in Washington Co MD. But records do not support that Daniel who was living in Jefferson County by 1830 is this person. Rodericks are found in Virginia prior to 1800 in Hardy and Hampshire counties. Some records even support that Rodericks were already in the Jefferson County area (Berkeley County at that time) in 1790 (1855 death record of John W. Roderick states he was born ca 1790 in Jefferson County, parents unknown). But this is dubious since no other Roderick record appears in Jefferson County prior to 1815.

The Hardy and Hampshire Rodericks also may be related to Ludwig.
Ludwig's brother, Andrew (1730-1804) died in Hampshire Co VA. He had issue, most of which married in Pennsylvania. Andrew also lived for a time in Frederick Co MD, where he was naturalized in 1761. He was a Dunker.

Peter Roderick, son of Lewis Roderick of Coshocton Co OH, was born 1796 in Washington Co MD before his family moved first to VA, then to OH. At age 17 (1813) he returned to Hampshire Co to the home of his uncle Nicholas Leatherman. He became a farmer and married Catherine Miller 20 Aug 1816. She was daughter of Jacob Miller and Susan Painter.
