It's been a long time since I have dealt with the Roderick line and I'm glad to see that there are others dealing with Jefferson Co WV. Hello cousins. In the past I was helped a lot by David Roderick and others. I am very interested in the origins of the Rodericks in Jefferson County and the Rodericks who lived in the Kabletown area, starting with Daniel Roderick, born ca 1791.
My line is through Cornelia Roderick (c. 1830 - 1895) who married Thomas K. Painter prior to 1850 and lived in Jefferson County. In the 1850 census this family lived in close proximity to Daniel Roderick and John Roderick. Cornelia is identified as a Roderick by the death certificates of at least two of her children - John Philip Painter (1856-1928) and James Henry Painter (1872-1935). Note the name John Philip - she also had a daughter named Elvira Catherine.
She appears to be a daughter of Daniel Roderick. I have very little on him or on the connections of the Jefferson Rodericks with other branches. Any help appreciated.
In the meantime, I've found some information new to me. For example, Alice Ann (Stonestreet) Roderick died in Feb 1907 in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Her husband, John Roderick, died August 1883 near Fleetwood, Jefferson County. These are from Spirit of Jefferson and/or Farmer's Advocate.
