Talitha (sometimes misspelled as "Tabitha") Jane Roddy was my grandfather Charles William Roddy's aunt. In 1902, she gave a sworn statement to a Pension Bureau investigator about the time she cared for CW for a month after he was hurt in a mine accident in 1896 (he was claiming an injury from his 1899 service in Cuba). She told the investigator that her last name was Johnson, but that it formerly had been Walls, and that she was 47. She lived in Briceville, Anderson County. Sounds like her. I found a record for a Roane County marriage between Lucinda Roddy and JL Braxton. Which Lucinda was that? By the way, my grandmother Nancy Belle Burriss' sister (also from Briceville) married William E. Walls and moved out west. Is he one of yours?
