RODDY - Rosanna & Moses; MD, NC, TN

I am trying to trace my Roddy ancestors who evidently migrated from the Baltimore, Md area (late 1700s) to the Carolinas and then to Tennessee (Knox & Rhea Counties).

The first names I am sure of are siblings: Rosanna Roddy (1781-1840), Moses and Sarah/Sally who were in Knox and Rhea County, Tn in the period 1800-1840.

Their maternal grandfather was Daniel McComisky (unsure of the spelling of his surname) of Baltimore, Md (will probated in about 1789 in Baltimore). The will mentions his grandchildren in the Carolinas.

In 1809, Richard Waterhouse of Rhea County, Tn bought the rights to some of the grandchildrens' interest in this inheritance and went to Baltimore to claim it. These grandchildren were Rosanna, Moses and Sarah/Sally Roddy and the 5 children of James Ryon of Kentucky.

Another Roddy in nearby Blount Co, Tn was a cousin of Rosanna. She was Jane/Jennie Roddy (1789-1852) who married Abraham Tipton (1783-1881).

Abraham was the brother of Polly Tipton who was the first husband of the Richard Waterhouse (1775-1827) mentioned above.
