Here's a breakdown by spelling variation for all forms of the name in Leitrim from 1800's Baptism and Marriage records. Spellings largely derived from the Rodahan / Rudohan / Redahan pronunciation are the most frequest. All Rodaughan / Rodaghan (silent 'u and g') records will almost certainly be from Fenagh parish. The original source of most / "if not all" of the english forms. Rodaghan (29 records) of which 25 are Birth Records Redican (20) 18 Birth Records Rodahan (15) 11 Birth Records Redehan (15) 12 Birth Records Reddighan (6) 6 Birth Records Rodaughan (5) 1 Birth Record Rodohan (5) 3 Birth Records Rodagan (4) 4 Birth Records Rodoghan (3) 1 Birth Record Rodican (4) 2 Birth Records Redihan (3) 3 Birth Records Redagan (3) 3 Birth Records Redahan (2) 1 Birth Record And 1 record each for the following spellings (13 in total); Rudican, Rudihan, Rodigan, Redigan, Reddihon, Reddihan, Redaihan, Readighan, Redhian, Ruddigan, Redegan, Reddeghan and Reddegan It's possible that the modern Sligo, Tipperary branches of 'Redican' may be from a slighly different source or an earlier branch of the same people!?
