Hello Trevor,
Many thanks for your reply to my request. I have made a lot of progress over the last 18 months or so. I, too, use FTM and will soon be ready to upload it to the Internet. However, I learnt that you should give credit to all sources so have spent all summer trying to source all my info! All my Australian info had come from the Internet and trying to find out whom exactly has been a bit of a nightmare!
Rosie Marshall from Tasmania has sent me lots of emails helping me, especially giving me the names and dob’s of John & Alice Rockliff’s 10 children. I shall add the marriages and death dates which you have kindly provided. In return I have been able to check out some early Rockliff marriages for her at this end. I have visited the grave of Ernest at Shipton although I fear a tree will soon knock the stone over if the family don’t attend to it. I would love a photo of them. Rosie sent me a fabulous obit of Alice from a Tasmanian newspaper, which I found extremely interesting. I have taken photos of Alice’s parents at Arksey, as my main interest is the Scholeys, although I have several hundred Rockliffs too!I also have several hundred Lawns, as my grandmother was one but haven’t found any connection to the Ethel who married Alan Scholey Rockliff.
I don’t think I shall be spending much time watching the Rugby World Cup, if they called it the Rugby Union World Cup I might give it a peep but I’m a devout Rugby League man, I watched your Grand Final last weekend and am looking forward to the Test Series when the Kangaroos arrive next month.
Cheers, Paul
