I am looking for any information about my great great great grandmother's family. Her name was Sarah J. Rockett and she was born c. 1840 in Jersey, Channel Islands.
According to the 1841 Jersey census her father was Josiah (though could be Isiah or Joshua) Rockett a shoemaker living in St. Helier, Jersey. He was born between 1807-1811 in England. He is not listed in any subsequent census.
His wife, Susan was born c. 1810 in England. She is also listed in the 1851 and 1871 census (widow in 1871 census).
The children listed are:
1841 census - Susan aged 10y. b. England; Anne aged 3y. b. St. Helier Jersey; Sarah aged 1y. b. St. Helier, Jersey
1851 census - Louisa aged 13y. b. St. Helier, Jersey; Sarah aged 11y. b. St. Helier, Jersey; Joseph aged 5y. b. St. Helier, Jersey
I know that Sarah J. Rockett married David Jonathon Jones b. Devonport, Devon c. 1840 before 1862 in Jersey. Their 1st 2 children - Mary Anne (b. 1862) and Susan (b. 1863) were born in St. Helier, Jersey but the family were living in London by the 1871 census.
If anyone has any information about where in England the Rockett family came from before going to Jersey or what became of the other Rockett children, I would be very grateful.
