Origin of ROCKET Surname

Adam- Glad you asked. The surname probably originated in France and was associated with the Town of Rochelle. When some of the Rochelle's came to England about 1066 the name was nglisized to Rocket or Rockett. It means "little rock". There were also some of this name that went to Ireland and settled around Waterford Co.
Since you are interested you might inquire of your father and grandfather(if still alive)if they have info. If you can give me a few more FACTS about your family I may be able to tell you who your ancestors were all the way back to England in the 1600's. Where do you live now?
