Josephina de Rocheblave - c. 1820 - Florida

I'm trying to learn the right name of the wife of Victor Plisť. On ship's passenger lists she is called Josefa or Josefina, and another researcher has suggested she was a Josephina de Rocheblave.

In August 1865 the Panamanian merchant-tycoon Victor said that as a young man he returned to the U.S. after a short residence in Europe, ".. attained my majority, and afterwards married an American lady, a native of Florida". Could the mysterious Josephina have been one of the Pensacola de Rocheblaves?

They had at least two children, Washington Victor Plisť, a musician and composer who died before 1922, probably in San Francisco, and Ofelia, who became a nun in northern California and also died there. Born and raised in Panama I don't know how they came to live in California. Washington Victor's daughter Norma Ophelia, my father's grandmother by adoption, was also born in Panama, but lived out her life in San Francisco.

Thank you, thank you, in advance for any leads you can give me on this family! I know quite a lot about the Plisť family, but am stumped by the true identity of Josephina.

Janelle
