Fedele Rocco was my grand-dad. Hi, my name is Jim Pillon, I live in Portland, Oregon. My wife and I are going to Italy this September, and plan to visit Grumento Nova to see where my maternal grandfather was born, and to see if we can discover any relatives there.

Fedele (Fred) Rocco had four daughters and two sons. My mother, Mary, was born in 1913, married my father, William Pillon, and together they had eight kids (four sons and four daughters). He died in 1964 in my parents' home.

His parents' names were Joe Rocco (I think the "Joe" is an americanized version of what his real name was) and Theresa Frugiletti. Fedele was born in Saponaro -- the previous name of the town that is now called Grumento Nova. Apparently the name changed sometime after he emigrated to the U.S.

According to my information one of his daughters, Annie (my mother's stepsister), married Alfred Silva. I don't think I ever met her or Alfred.

I hope this helps, and if you care to contact me before we go to Italy later this year with any information you have, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Best regards,
Jim Pillon
