Hi! yes, it's been quite awhile... I have always been troubled by not being able to exactly prove that my thomas jefferson ROBY was descended from thomas galloway roby.
I wrote to a small oklahoma community,, I had done this before, but they told me no info was available .(where my thomas jefferson roby died) and a lady sent me a small clipping from a small community paper that thomas jefferson roby was born in AUGUST.. and the one I had researched for over 20 years was born in JAN. It ws as simple as that..
I had always found discrepancies on the census records and dismissed them.. MY thomas jefferson was born 1851 in Allegany Co. MD. to Hezekiah Roby & Susanna HOffman.
the other thomas jefferson roby was born 1849 in MS.
Many years ago, I found a thomas jeff roby who married his first wife frances stringham and a
man named winfield scott roby who married in the same place to another lady.. I had thought they were brothers, and I forget why now, but dismissed that theory.. Well I should have stuck with that one, because he is indeed my ggrandpas brother..
I found some roby cousins in texas who are related to the other thomas jeff on the galloway line. and did tons of research for them, but that's o.k. as I like to help others( and I still thought I was in that line too..too).. however, things just didn't "equal up"...
So after all of these years,, I have had to start over. I know NOTHING about Hezekiah's family , but he was living next door to a Zadok ROBY in the 1830 Allegany co MD. census .
If you can help me AT ALL I would appreciate it so very much.
