I am looking for any information on my gr-gr-gr-grandparents and children.
William ROBINSON was born abt 1822 and according to both 1860 and 1870 White Plains, Westchester Co, NY Censuses was born in Ireland. 1900 Census says Scotland. His wife, Sarah COLWELL was born abt 1825. I'm not sure about Sarah's place of birth either. The 1860 Census says Ireland, the 1870 Census says Scotland. The place of birth is listed as Scotland for both on their daughter Susan's death certificate. William died sometime between 1900 and 1910. Sarah between 1880 and 1900.
The 1900 Census says William immigrated here in 1850. No luck finding exact matches on immigration records.
They have had 9 children, all said on census were born in NY but with William not immigrating till 1850, the first 3 could have been born in Scotland. I found a scrap of paper written by my grandmother probably 40 years ago that they were born in Scotland.
The children:
(1) Anna ROBINSON (b July 1843) and may be living as married (Annie GIBSON lived with her 3 year old son, John with Sarah and William in the 1870 Census)
(2) Sarah ROBINSON (b abt 1844) married to an unknown JOHNSON
(3) Agnes ROBINSON (b abt 1848)
(4) L. Isabella ROBINSON (b abt 1853)
(5) Loretta ROBINSON(b abt 1856 but not listed in 1870 census with family)
(6) Ophelia D. ROBINSON (b abt Feb 1860)
(7) Thomas ROBINSON (b abt 1862)
(8) Susan ROBINSON (b Apr 8, 1862 in White Plains, NY, d Jan 1, 1922 Bridgeport, CT, m Frank Fletcher Travis); and George ROBINSON (b abt 1865)
(9) George ROBINSON (b July 1866 in White Plains, NY, still living with his widowed father and sister Anna in 1900)
From 1860 to 1900 censuses, they've always been in the White Plains area. In several censuses, they lived near county jail in the Pound Ridge section. In 1900, William and Sarah lived on South Broadway.
Any help appreciated. Does anyone know of any burials in the area? Is anyone decended from any of these children?
