On 1901 Canadian Census in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, we have a Alis Robillard born 1 Jun 1812. He was French, and living with his son Alexander born 6 or 8 Jan 1857 in Ile a la Cross Saskatchewan. Alexander was Cree. There was an Alexis that worked for the Hudson Bay Company from 1854 to 1875 as a Middleman. This Alis may be Alexis. He was in English River or Isl a la Cross where Alexander was born. It was stated at Alexander's death that his father was Jerome and his mother Isabella Kennedy. It is possible that Alis was his grandfather and raised him as his son. The oral history states that my husbands grandfather was one of 5 brother's that came directly from Leon France as apposed to coming from Quebec. The 1901 census states that he was from Quebec. Do you know if the name Alis could be Alexis? Do you have any record of any Robillards that had children with Cree ladies in the west?
