John Roberts from Wales

I would like to correspond with anyone on "Roberts" surname that originated from Wales or any history on the Roberts name or how they came to America. My ggrandfather is John Fitzgeral Roberts b. abt 1800 to 1835. I haven't much information on him or the town he was from but he was supposedly brought to the island of Guam in the Pacific as a prisoner probably from an English Ship. Family sources also say he was a whaler. I only know a lot on his descendants but not his life in Wales. Any history on Wales during that era would also be helpful. Thanks

Ethel D.
