Cornelius, James Sr., James Jr. Roberts Kentucky
UGH!*Banging head on desk!!!!*Can someone out there let me know where the documentation is for Cornelius' birth being in Kent, England in 1749?Was it England or Virginia? This is the same Cornelius that was killed by Indians while digging ginseng on Black Mountain Virginia/Kentucky line.
He had a son, James Roberts, Sr. born around 1780's.James had a son, James Roberts, Jr. between 1800-1805.They settled in Pike County, Kentucky.James Jr., I believe, had children out of wedlock with a Henrietta 'Ritty or Rittie' Crabtree. It was known that all the children but one, Daniel, kept the Crabtree's name.Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? This is what has been told in my family for years.... but...
I've also heard that Henrietta 'Ritty' Roberts was James Sr.'s daughter and she married a James Crabtree in Virginia and had the children.James killed a man in Virginia and they fled to Kentucky. He must've disappeared on the days they had taken the census records for it's only Ritty that is shown on the records.
If any of this makes sense, please notify me.I'm at my wits end on this!
Thanks!
