Yes, this is an even longer shot than you might have thought. My reference is to a Robbins, but the feeling is that the name might actually have been misconstrued from Robinson. There was a Franklin Robinson on the wagon train that I have reference to, and no one except my g-g-grandfather makes reference to a Robbins on the train. Not that there couldn't have been a Robbins, but none of the other records include that name. My thought was that if I could come up with some descendants and verify any variant of this name, I could emend the record. I wish I could be more positive, but the likelihood is that we are talking about two different people. But do you have any dates, or even the year your Robbins arrived in CA? Marysville census records might be of some help to you, too.

I'll certainly keep your Moses Robbins in mind if I should learn more that is pertinent.
