Ancestors of James Robb
Posted by: Robert R. Glenn (ID *****1204) Date: June 19, 2011 at 13:50:21
  of 1478

I am researching the ancestors of James Robb, who was born in England or Ireland in 1747, and who was married to Margaret Barr, b. in Ireland, d., Gibson County, Indiana in 1807. James Robb came to York PA in 1773, and died in Jefferson or Washington County, Kentucky, in 1825. He had lived in Posey or Gibson County Indiana for a number of years before returning to Kentucky.

James Robb and his said wife had at least two sons, Thomas or John Thomas Robb, b. in Ireland on 8/10/1769, and David Robb, who both moved to Gibson/Posey Counties, Indiana, and both of whom fought in the Battle of Tippecanoe. James and Margaret Robb may have had two other sons, John and Henry.

Lydia Waller, daughter of Thomas and Mary Small Waller, married John Thomas Robb,in Kentucky on 4/23/1795, after which they moved to Posey County, Indiana, where he died on 6/24/1818, as a result of being thrown from a horse. Lydia died on 2/13/1867 in Posey County, Indiana. They were the parents of 13 children, including Peyton or Payton Robb, b. 4/12/1812, in Posey County, Indiana, d. 6/12/1868, in Posey County, Indiana. Peyton Robb married Susan Finch, daughter of John W. and Lavinia Fitzgerald Finch.
