I saw your message chain. I am descended from Thomas Dent, the half-brother of James William Robarts, and have not an endless but a reasonable amount of information about some of the Robarts family, which I would be happy to share. I am particularly interested in:

JWR's brother, another Charles James Robarts (1820-73), an Indian Army Cavalry Officer with his own Irregular Cavalry Regiment "Robarts Horse"

their father, James Thomas Robarts, of the East India Company in Canton, who was co-founder of a trading firm that subsequently became our family firm, Dent & Co

late 19th century photographs of members of the Robarts family - we have several family photo albums with some identified photos (including some Robarts's, such as Charles James junior and his wife Ada) but lots of unidentified people - and there are sure to be other Robarts' there

the legend that my ggg grandmother Charlotte Lloyd (who married first JT Robarts of Canton and then my ggg grandfather Robert Dent) was the illegitimate daughter of a distinguished person
