Robards Allen and his wife Louisa, were in Mason Co., KY before 1800, and died there, he in 1829. His mother may have had maiden name Robards. I'm seeking identity of an Allen/Robards couple who were parents of William, Thomas and Benjamin [at least] in Mason Co., KY in the early 1800's. The following notes pertain to Robards Allen. "Robards, Robard, Roberts and Robert Allen are each used for this man's name. 1. Robards was used in Scioto County Marriages, Marriage Records of Scioto County, Ohio, 1803-1860; Shoemaker and Reidity. Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., 1987. Allen, William & Sarah Worley. He res. Mason Co., KY. His father, Robards Allen cons., witn. Benjamin Allen, Thomas Allen, & John Allen. 7Dec.1818. 2. In "Vital Records Index -- North America" Marriage Index. Allen, Benjamin, wife Rebecca Pagitt; 18Oct.1819, Mason Co., KY. Husband's father, Robard Allen; mother, Louisa Allen. 3. Indenture, Mason Co., KY., between Roberts Allen and Elijah Reeves for exchange of part of property on which Elijah Reeves then lived. Roberts Allen used multiple times in this document. 4. In many other documents, Robert Allen is used as his name. It seems likely to the author that he was named Robards Allen, but often used Robert in that Robards is an uncommon first name, to be sure."
