Hi Ted-- I've pretty much dropped out of genealogy, but today I looked in on the Roark GenForum to see what was happening and read your posting. I'm not related to the Roark line described by John J. Roark, but I may be one of the most vocal admirers of Mr. Roark's book. I am totally persuaded that you have indeed found George CAMPBELL with 1st wife Isabel in the 1860 Hamilton Co. TN census and with 2nd wife Elizabeth nee ROARK in the 1870 Hamilton Co. TN and 1880 Meigs Co. TN censuses. Good for you! What puzzles me is how easy he was/they are to find, when it seems that Mr. Roark (in his note regarding Shropshire's information) tried but without success. The only thing I can think of is that the big census index books, used before the Internet made the censuses so accessible, may have missed George and Elizabeth Campbell's entry or weren't available to Mrs. Shropshire. Or that the first Internet census indexes missed them. But you found them! If John J. Roark is still living, he might be interested in your discovery.
