Hi Alma, Yes, Zacharuah was a great guy. I had a lot of fun growing up around my grandfather, his children,& all my cousins. It was a huge family, & we spent a lot of summers & holidays together. You don't realize how important family members are until you get older, & you start loosing them. On the Marriage certificate it listed Rebecca Roark and Smith as Zachariah's parents. Therefore I was not sure for years who the Smith was. I thought it was Smith Powell Roark. Or maybe Smith Roark Powell. On the Death Cetrificate of Zachariah Roark, where it says who the father is it says, "SMITH ROARK" for father, & Rebecca Roark for Mother & makes a note of last names being the same. I really enjoyed exchanging information with Alanna. She is a great genealogist. I really appreciate Alanna sending me Zachariah's death certificate, which gave me the real & correct name of Zachariah Roark's father, plus information about when he was in the VA, & cause of death. I also appreciate Alanna sending me copies of Zachariah Roark's Draft cards for World 1 & World War 11. Zachariah was also in the Spanish American War in the Calvary. He loved horses, as does most of my family. On the familysearch.org site you can find Smith Roark's Parents William Roark & Dicey Jent,& Grandparents William Roark & Sarah Dorris. On the Google web site you can find the story of William Roark & Sarah Dorris, & how William came to America from Ireland. William Roark's father was TImothy O'Roark of Ireland. I have also enjoyed reading about your family on the message boad. The Roarks were, & still are an interesting Family. Patsy Notify Administrator about this message?
