Thanks so much for this information. You have cleared up an important hurdle for me. I have a reference from _The Abridged Compendium of American Genealogy_ stating that Lucy Daingerfield Roane was the daughter of Samuel Roane, M.D. (1807-1842), m. 1833, Ann Frances Woodward, reportedly the daughter of Henley Woodward and Fannie B. Woodward, but could not locate her in Virginia. In that source, Samuel Roane is said to be the son of John Roane and Elizabeth F. Roane. I have found a reference to a marriage of a John Roane to an Elizabeth Frazier in Bagby's _King and Queen County, Virginia_, but can't confirm this is the correct family for my Samuel Roane. Do you have any information which might confirm my leads?

Mike Chapman
