Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

J.S. Roane was most likely John Seldon Roane. He should be easy to find on the internet because he was, I believe, an early governor of Arkansas (elected on August, 1849 and served one term.) He also fought in the Battle of Buena Vista in Mexican-American war, February 22-23, 1847.

His parents were:

Hugh Roane (b. 1765 to Margaret Walker Roane and Andrew Roane, in Derry township, Lancaster, Pennsylvania -- now Dauphin County, Pa., d. 1825 and buried in the Calhoun Cemetary, 6. mi. north of Lebanon, TN...His tombstone reads "Hugh Roan/1765 - 1825"), and,

Hannah Calhoun Roane (b. August 24, 1775 in NC, d. March 18, 1851.)
