My great great grandfather, Henry Ivers Roane (1836-1925), was the son of Sexton Crey Roane (1790-1872) and Eliza Roberts. Both father and son immigrated to Illinois from Ireland in the mid 1860's to join another son, Richard Roane. Some other children went to New York and others went to Canada. According to family records from the 30's "William Son of Sexton Crey Roane went to Canada. Their children Tom, Will, Richard, Mary Ann, Jane Harriet. Mary Ann Daughter of Sexton Crey Roane Married Geo. H. McMullen, died at Toronto, Ontario Canada of Diptheria. She was next older to Henry Ivers Roane." Does any of this sound familiar?
