Your Ireland connection and the birthdate of your Thomas Roane (1828) interested me. My immigrant ancestor was John P. Roane b. 1831, probably in Athenry, County Galway, Ireland. His father was Patrick Roane and mother Cecelia ---.

He settled in Lowell, Massachusetts and died at age 38. He was a grocer from 1859...and morphed into a mason by 1868. Lack of records hasmade it devilishly difficult to connect him with other family members. --Just this week I received information from a (Roman Catholic) baptism record (1862) that listed a "Hannah Rowen" as a sponsor. Whether she is sister, cousin, or an in-law, I don't know. Can't find much on her either.

Your Thomas Roane could be related to my John Roane. At least we are Ireland Roanes, as opposed to the huge number in the southern states from the English line. --Let me know if any of my data connects with what you know. And at any rate, good luck with your research.

Christine Roane
