Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

The original Andrew Roane & his brother John,
a Presbyterian minister, emigrated to Pennsylvia from Ireland. Andrew was married to Margaret Walker Roane. Archibald was born
abt 1759 in Derry Township, Lancaster (now Dauphin) County, PA. After both of Archibald's parents died, he became the ward of his uncle, John Roane. Check your library for a book called "Governors of Tennessee".
There's a lot of info on Archibald.
Also, if you happen to find info on a James R. Roane, born abt 1813 in Caswell Co, NC, please let me know. My grandmother said that she had an "uncle" who was a governor of TN.
James R. Roane has been my brick wall for a long time now.
