Isaac Brooks Roach b. 1811 d. 1861 and possible father James

Hi,

I'm looking for the ancestors of Isaac Brooks Roach who died in Floyd Co. (Rome) Ga. in 1861. Census records show that Isaac was born about 1811 in Tennessee. Living next to him in Carroll Co. Ga. in 1840 was Thomas Roach, also born in Tennessee. Thomas had a son named Isaac. Both Thomas and Isaac named their oldest sons James. Descendants of Isaac believe these two men were brothers. Therefore, we think their father could have been a James Roach who was an adult with a family living in Tennessee around 1810.

There weren't too many Roach families living in Tennessee that early, but several sons of James Roach of Orange Co. NC made their way to Tennessee at that time and later. James's children are known and he died before Thomas and Isaac were born, but James did have a son named James born ca. 1792 about whom almost nothing is known. It is sometimes noted that the younger James died in Attala, MS, but no one has any proof of this and, in fact, I have not been able to find anyone who has any provable facts about him. I would be very interested in discussing the Roach family of Orange Co, NC and TN and in learning any facts that anyone can share about James. Jr. that might help rule him in or out as a possible father of Thomas and Isaac.

Thanks.

Charlene
