Cheri, Thank you very much for responding. James Roach, reportedly a son of Henry & Catherine was my 5th g-grandfather. He was supposed to be a brother to Lewis Roach that married Ann Thompson Bartley. I have proved my line of this family from James through the present. There exists, however, one big problem. DNA testing performed over the past two or three years indicates quite strongly that James was not the son of Henry and Catherine, nor was he a brother to the Littleberry Roach that most people think he was. Unless someone has some really good documentation to the contrary, it should be noted that Henry and Catherine only had two documented children - Ashcraft and Sabra. Both appear as their children in Parish records in New Kent County, Virginia. A descendant of Ashcraft Roach has been tested and was the son of Henry. He was not a brother to James or William. In all my years of researching (since 1953), I have found not one shred of evidence that James' father was Henry. If Lewis has a descendant, I would really like to communicate with that person. I would love to communicate with you further, but off-line. You may feel free to contact me directly. I would send an email to you directly, but I have no luck in getting messages to anyone with a msn service provider unless I am responding to them. Thanks again, Cheri. Happy trails, Betty Notify Administrator about this message?
