Thank you for the info.I have the copy of the Rixey Genealogy by Randolph Rixey referred to on the web site you sent.The site mentions the Moreheads brought Scots to the mix. Elizabeth married an Anderson first and the Dowell name is Scots/Irish. It has always made more sense to me that the Rixey name was probably English or Irish simply because of who they married. Not many Italian names in the mix. In addition, there is some evidence that Richard Rixey Sr.'s wife's name may have been Elizabeth Cornett, an Irish name is seems. There are just too many English/Irish/Scots names in the mix.
There is also evidence that the Rixey's were Baptist. The Andersons definately were as were my early Dowell's.I haven't looked into it much but I'm not sure if an Italian would have been a baptist back then. It was more of an English thing.It you would like me to copy you on any info that leads me down these paths let me know. [email protected]
