Hi Eileen,
I looked in "History and Genealogy of The Rix Family of America" compiled by Guy S. Rix, published 1906.You are correct that he is the son (only child) of Benjamin Franklin Rix, grandson of Nathaniel. The entry reads:
Frank Reader Rix(8);(Benjamin Franklin(7), Nathaniel(6), Nathaniel(5), Nathaniel(4), James(3), James(2), Thomas(1); born in Lowell, Mass., Aug. 30, 1853; married, in Lowell, June 30, 1883, Maria Plumado, born in Lowell, Oct. 19, 1856, daughter of Oliver and Laura Ann (Clark) Plumado.Dr. Rix received his education in the grammar and High School of Lowell, and graduated from Harvard College in 1875, cum laude, and from Harvard Medical School in 1879; studied medicine with Dr. Irish, of Lowell, and practiced medicine in Lowell for twelve years; was organist for twenty-seven years in the churches in Lowell, and also taught music. He gave up the practive of medicine and took up teaching music, both vocal and instrumental. He has sung much in concert, and also as a soloist. He was Musical Director in the public schools of Lowell for three years, and is now (1905) Director of Music in the public schools of New York City.He resides in Flushing, NY.
There are 8 children listed.
Hope this helps ~
Chris
