Hello, Kim, Since posting my message on the Rivet forum, I have received some solid information about Joseph Osier and Marie Louise Rivet from a variety of sources. It would appear that your Johney and my Exilda are indeed brother and sister. Joseph, Marie Louise and Johney appear on the 1900 census of Negaunee, Michigan, living at Cambria and Lillie (or Lillis) Mine Locations. There are two other Osier families on the same page, those of Thomas and Nelson Osier--probably relatives, but I have no proof other than conjecture based on their proximity in the 1900 and 1910 censuses. According to the census information, Marie Louise had given birth to 13 children, 5 of whom were living in 1900. Since there is no mention of Ellen, my guess is that she was already married. So far, I haven't found anything about her from my searches or from my sources. My best human source thus far has been Donald Osier of Hennepin, Minnesota, who is the great-grandson of Joseph and Marie Louise, and grandson of Ernest ("Arness" in the Canadian Census of 1881). Donald, however, has no knowledge of Ellen or Mary, the daughters that appear in the 1881 census. Joseph and Marie Louise ended up in Hennepin, Minnesota, living with or near their son Ernest, Donald Osier's grandfather. Mary Crandall's 'Marriages in Ontario' has been a great source on the 'net. Finding information about the Auger/Osier family has been both frustrating and rewarding. I started with a copy of my grandfather's birth registration and a handful of letters that my great-grandma Exilda Auger/Richard sent to my grandparents between 1917 and 1947. My grandparents lived in Port Arthur (now Thunder Bay), Ontario, but Exilda lived in and around Holyoke, Massachusetts. With the family so far-flung, it has been a never-ending search to track them down. I can appreciate your difficulties. Since I cannot add to your information about Ellen or Johney as yet, is there any other information that I can provide? I'd be happy to share whatever may be of use to you. Regards, Joan Notify Administrator about this message?
