I'd like to find information about Benjamin RIVES who owned property in Chester County, South Carolina. The reason of my interest is there seems to be a connection to my LEE family. The will of Frederick LEE, 1814, contains this writing: "I Frederick Lee Last of the State of South Carolina and District of Chester, being now in perfect senses & of sound mind and memory knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do with calmness & deliberation make & ordain this to be my last will and testament in names & form following Vis. I lend unto my wife Susannah Lee the plantation where on we now live which was conveyed to me by Williamson HARPER for one hundred & eighty acres being part of a tract granted by the State to Benj. RIVES Decr By the oD 1786 for 300 acres." The will also names Frederick's daughter as (Mary) Polly RIVES. Does anyone have information on this family? CULP is another allied family. John and Geo. Rives are seen close by on the 1820 Chester Co. census. In appreciation.
